Romulus Middle School Students Support Building Schools in Africa!

Recently I visited the students of Romulus Middle School, which is situated in Romulus in the great State of Michigan, and participated with them in a two day African event at the school. The eight hundred students and teachers watched our film “Come Walk With Me” and listened to the story of the struggle of African children to build schools in their villages.

The questions from the students were focused, inquisitive and imaginative, and I have to say at times, I was challenged and amazed by the breath of their understanding of subject.

The students have committed to raise funds to help the Build African Schools project and we are very grateful for their support. Come on kids, there’s plenty of snow to be shoveled!

Our sincere thanks goes to Mr. Josh Baker who organized the two-day event, the teachers, whose daily class routine were totally messed up, and the headmistress, Phyllis Adkins. Having visited the school there’s no doubt the education of the children there is in good hands

We are so appreciative of the gift of the iMac and the eight hundred signatures that the children signed all over it! There is some evidence to think the original color of the iMac was white!

On my return home I was asked what were the best amusing questions asked by the students. So, for me the most amusing ones were:

“Mr. Baker said you are from California, so why do you talk with a funny accent?”

“Did you ever see a lion eat a person?”

“Do the children in the African schools have cell phones and iPods?”

Fantastic!

Kids of Romulus Middle School you are the greatest!
