On February the 19th and 20th Build African Schools visited Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

It was a great visit and event. Meeting with members of the faculty and students was a real exhilarating experience. Duke has a civics program called Duke Engage (dukeengage.duke.edu) that provides for Duke students to travel to all parts of the world to help those who struggle. Both Build African Schools and Duke Engage are currently reviewing how both organizations can combine their resources and engage Duke students with the communities where we construct schools. Others at Duke are also investigating the possibilities of build a fully equipped school. We are indeed so grateful for Duke’s support.

On a related note, read the New York Times article on the Duke Center for Civic Engagement and the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation.
